Last week, Borneo Motors pulled the covers off the all-new Toyota Vios in Singapore. The new Vios is recognised as a pioneer of the subcompact sedan category, and the new car is bigger and better than before.
According to Takatomo Suzuki, Vios' Chief Engineer, the new Vios was designed to focus on retaining the qualities Toyota customers have come to know and love like its value and comfort. This time around, the front view of the new Vios has been updated with a horizontal grille that gives it a wider and more aerodynamic appearance. To add to its sleek appearance, the LED daytime running lamps (DRL) is integrated into the shape of the grille.
Inside, the central console of the Vios is redesigned neatly as well. By removing the intervening gap and enlarging the center cluster, the center ornaments now extend to the upper portion of the instrument panel to the front console. At 1,730mm, the new Vios has grown wider, with a spacious and comfortable cabin that allows all occupants to sit in complete comfort, thanks to new rear seats and increased shoulder space. The Vios also provides cabin quietness, largely due to the silencers and seals fitted throughout the car.
Safety wise, the new Vios comes with seven SRS airbags, including SRS side airbags, SRS Curtain Shield Airbags (CSA) and SRS knee airbag. It also features a range of brake control systems to help prevent emergencies, such as Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force) distribution, Brake Assist (BA), Traction Control (TRC), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC).
Furthermore, the Vios also features all new smart entry and start system for added convenience that allow drivers to start or unlock the car by simply having the key by them.
As for driving performance, the new Vios is capable of making 105 hp at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. Also, the powertrain has been paired with a CVT that can achieve a top speed of 170 km/h. Not forgetting the combined fuel consumption of 5.8 litres per 100 km.
Both E and G-Grade variants of the Vios are also Euro 6 compliant. All customers will have a choice of seven stunning colours for the Vios, that will include the all new Red Mica Metallic and Dark Blue Mica Metallic. The Vios E-grade is priced at S$89,988, while the Vios G-grade is priced at S$95,988 with both prices including COE.
